EMDR Therapy
Evidence-Based Treatment for Trauma and Distressing Experiences
What Is EMDR?
Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) is a structured, evidence-based therapy designed to help the brain process and integrate distressing memories.
When difficult or traumatic experiences are not fully processed, they can remain “stuck,” contributing to anxiety, intrusive memories, emotional reactivity, negative self-beliefs, or avoidance patterns. EMDR helps the brain reprocess these experiences so they become less emotionally intense and less disruptive in daily life.
EMDR is often used for trauma and PTSD, but it can also support individuals experiencing anxiety, panic, phobias, medical trauma, performance blocks, and long-standing negative beliefs about themselves.
At Living Deliberately, EMDR is delivered thoughtfully and at your pace. Preparation and stabilization are prioritized before deeper processing begins.
A Structured, Supportive Process
EMDR therapy follows a phased approach that includes assessment, preparation, active reprocessing, and integration. During sessions, bilateral stimulation (such as guided eye movements or other forms of rhythmic stimulation) is used to help the brain process targeted memories.
You remain awake, aware, and in control throughout the process.
EMDR does not erase memories — it changes how they are stored and experienced, often reducing their emotional charge and allowing for greater clarity and resilience.
